The number of days in Maryland that are projected to be above 90 degrees is a direct effect of climate change.  This number is really expected to increase greatly.  Along the same idea our campus is relatively large and a heat source itself.  We have black parking lots and roads, very few shade trees, and lots of open grass areas.  A potential MWEE would be have students take temperatures on the campus in multiple locations, determine which areas need to be altered, suggest changes, and potentially act upon the changes.

This sounds like a very achievable project Jaime - and one that they could write to their school board and local governments about.

I like the action plan focusing on the weather patterns of MD specifically when it hits the 90's. This is a real life application for students to observe and study that temperatures changes and effect to your school.

Jamie you're right on target here. Like Rachael said, this is a very achievable MWEE concept where you don't need necessarily a ton of resources and the topic is very relevant to your students and how they experience their schoolyard. Great idea.

I really like this idea! It is so obtainable, and provides immediate learning for students.
