Soviet treasure
After my grandfather died, we went through the attic where he kept old documents, newspapers and, as it turned out, a whole box of Soviet coins. At first, we didn’t pay attention, but then we decided to check whether they had any collector’s value. I searched the Internet and found https://coinstrail.com, a site with an excellent reputation among numismatists.
At first, I assessed the coins individually, uploading photos and choosing the year, denomination and condition. Within an hour, I realized that some specimens — especially from the 50s — could be worth quite a bit. What was striking was that CoinsTrail not only gave an assessment, but also explained why this particular coin was rare: small mintage, factory defect, special metal. Everything was clear even to a beginner.
It turned out that one 3-ruble coin was a jubilee coin, in excellent condition, and I sold it through one of the recommended intermediaries. The deal went smoothly and quickly. Now my brother and I are thinking of keeping some of the coins for ourselves and selling the rest.
If it weren't for CoinsTrail, everything would have remained in a dusty box. But now we have both the memory of our grandfather and a pleasant bonus from family history.
