The green spaces and the walkway along the Potomac River in Washington, DC are favorite escapes for some peace and quiet throughout the year.  With heavy rains, the waterfront often floods, and sewer pipes emit raw sewage into the river and tributaries, especially Rock Creek Park.  The Georgetown waterfront damage usually makes the news.  Rock Creek Park is closed, and if anyone is in the area, they can smell the problem.  I'm curious about the cost of this clean up, and what else I can do as a person living in the city, working with young people, to make more of an impact and raise awareness.  An action component in a MWEE such as reaching out to lawmakers by writing letters and talking to the parents of some of the students in my school who work the lawmakers on Capitol Hill, comes to mind, but I also want to do more.
