A local scale climate change impact that I think will affect my site is sea level rise. The school where I work is only several hundred feet from the Chesapeake Bay. The island that the school is located on will more than likely be covered by water by the end of this century if not sooner. There are several parts of the island that already flood when it rains so much so, that they have to block off certain roads from time to time. Students who live on the island definitely can relate to the impact that sea level rise could have on the area.

As the glaciers melt up north and the water of the bay warms and expands as a result, the level of the bay water will rise.

I am not sure how this particular impact could be integrated into a MWEE. Perhaps students could take measurements of the current water levels around the island? Any ideas?
