Initial Thoughts On Teaching Climate Change

In our physics curriculum we dealt with interactions forces. In this manner, I can connect the earth system and forces of nature that is brought about by climate change. For example, we have more extreme hurricanes or tropical cyclones now that cause stronger impact to the environment and how it could affect humans and other organisms.

Living in an urban community, I would let my students identify the gases emitted by many cars and factories in the area that are burning fossil fuel. Where do these gases go and how are they impacting the community and the earth as a whole. Also, they will reflect on the impact and make recommendations on how they can help slow down climate change or global warming.

I like that you're thinking about impact and solutions. Emphasizing our students role in the solution is essential to making sure that our lessons don't turn too "doom-and-gloom."
