Being a part of the Chesapeake watershed, the impacts are seen in the crab and other sea animal populations. Water quality and pollution have a direct impact on their ecosystem. In addition greater instances of flooding have been indicative of both climate change and human activity. The heavier rains are result of climate change and the lack of permeable ground are a result of human activity. This could be integrated into the MWEE because student can be given an opportunity to record rainfall data as well as pollution data to determine the impact. At the inner harbor in particular, there is a trash wheel that removes trash from the harbor. Students would collect data on this in order to see how the trash that that is left as litter makes its way into the harbor and harms the ecosystem.
