Greetings all, Chris here. Along with Pat, Bart, and Elise, I am one of the facilitators of this summer's Climate Change Academy. This is my sixth academy! Each of the past academies has had its highlights, and I'm looking forward to working with you all on making this the best academy yet.

I am the Education Specialist with Delaware Sea Grant and the University of Delaware College of Earth, Ocean, and Environment. Each year, I do a ton of student programs--both classroom groups and informal groups like the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. I also do professional development for classroom teachers and informal educators via workshops and conference sessions. My student programs and teacher workshops cover everything from plankton to wind energy!

Prior to my current position, I was an Education Specialist with Virginia Sea Grant at the Virginia Institute of Marine Science for six years, a commercial oyster farmer, and a high school teacher (marine bio and AP Environmental). I have Bachelors in Biology from Washington College (Maryland) and a Masters in Marine Biosciences from the University of Delaware.

I look forward to working with you all this summer!

Hi, Chris.  Looking forward to the Academy.  I hope I don't reply twice but my first reply did not seem to post.  Anyway, as you do professional development, I'm hoping I can get ideas for pd at my school.  We are behind the times when it comes to climate change.  It's just something to be covered in science class.  See you in July.  Mick

Mick,

I'm happy to help figure out ways to engage your faculty in climate change pd. At the academy, you'll experience a whole host of activities that could serve as pd at your school. Let's talk!

See you in a few weeks.
