I plan on working with Alice Ferguson Foundation and looking at land development impacts downstream from our community. As more development is put in we want to see if there are impacts on the streams and tributaries that eventually lead to the Anacostia River. I have set up some preliminary trips and research days with them and hope to get more funding so I can make it more accessible to all my students and make sure my trips are more inclusive. I also want to have my student monitor the impacts of urban sprawl and how it impacts heat retention in the area.
It's great that you already have a partner in mind to make this happen! Where do you see the climate connection coming in? With the increased population, increased carbon emissions?
